Peter Meshot is the managing attorney for the Sacramento office of the Law Offices of McDowell, Meshot & Shaw. His practice focuses primarily on the defense of personal injury lawsuits, and assisting insurance company clients in first party investigations of suspect claims.

Mr. Meshot represents various and major insurance companies in cases that require legal assistance in the investigation of suspect personal and commercial insurance claims. These include arsons, theft losses and others. Mr. Meshot provides legal assistance by conducting examinations under oath, legal analysis of claims and coverage, and recommendations for deciding claims.

Mr. Meshot began his legal career as a judicial attorney for Justice Rick Sims of the California Court of Appeal, Third District. He has over 20 years experience as an attorney in Sacramento, and has successfully tried and arbitrated many cases. He has defended clients in cases of uninsured and underinsured motorist claims, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, products liability, and public entity liability.

He is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in the State of California. He is a member and President of the Norther California Fraud Investigators Association. He is on the panel of arbitrators and serves as a settlement judge pro tem in Sacramento, Placer and El Dorado Counties. He regularly provides training for insurance company clients in fulfilment of Department of Insurance continuing education requirements for both claims and special investigations.
