William T. McLaughlin has practiced law in excess of thirty years. He obtained his juris doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1984. He is a member of the State Bar of California, and is licensed to practice before the United States District Court, in the Central, Eastern, and Northern Districts of California. He is also licensed to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. McLaughlin is Board Certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and, over the course of 30 years, he successfully tried over 50 civil jury trials in both state and federal courts throughout Central and Northern California. He has also handled a substantial number of administrative proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations.
Mr. McLaughlin has been voted a Northern California Super Lawyer for the past 15 years. He is an Advocate with the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), and he has served as the President and a Board Member of the San Joaquin Chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (ABTL).
Mr. McLaughlin has handled a broad range of civil actions, but a significant portion of his practice has been devoted to insurance law and litigation. He was an adjunct professor at the San Joaquin College of law, where he taught Insurance Law for over 10 years. He continues to specialize in the insurance matters, including third party insurance defense, first party claims, and defense against bad faith actions.
